Fun Collaborations Take Gin To The Skies
... Aviation as BA's gin of choice, Ryan Reynolds and Jane Seymour...
Deadpan English Rose meets Deadpool Brand Man
OK, so ordinarily, I’m a supporter of all British, particularly English gins. But today I’m making an exception and namedropping the most famous American Gin because, well, if it’s good enough for our English rose Jane Seymour OBE, and British Airways in 2022, then it’s good enough for me.
Jane is a Middlesex-born Brit who has open-heartedly embraced the US market, and it has loved her back in return. Iconic star of the beloved TV series “Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman,” she became a role model to young women and girls throughout the world with her inspiring rendition of a woman who can courageously dare, achieve and improve anything a man can do, investing it with that “woman’s touch” of caring humanity.
Former Bond Girl, Jane’s found her acting niche with some strong comedy roles of late. But it’s her acting for a recent collaboration with Canadian-American Spirited actor Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin that got me chuckling this week.
It’s actually a very nice gin.
Aviation American Gin was founded in Portland in 2006 and is a metaphor for taste and adventure. The gin is infused with a democratic blend of botanicals – cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peel to create a smoother, softer, more refined take on gin.
I mentioned British Airways. In March 2022, Aviation got on board with UK flag carrier British Airways to take their brand to new heights - the sky! Their take on the quintessentially British drink was launched with a hilarious alternative safety video which I think gives us a flavour of how fun this transatlantic partnership may prove to be.
Although my own flying days are over, my 25-year-old flight attendant daughter flies with British Airways, so she’s been kind enough to bring home a few cheeky Aviation miniatures this year.
All four of my Millenial/Gen Z children are gin drinkers (unsurprisingly), and we have loved this (free) gin in our cocktails at home.
For The Holidays
If you follow either @janeseymour or @vancityreynolds over on Instagram you may have come across their @aviationgin ad for The Holidays a couple of days ago. As someone wrote in the comments, it’s the collab we never knew we needed.
“Dr Gin, Medicine Woman.” wrote Reynolds.
Jane Seymour referred to it as her Open Bottle collection…
Take a watch, it’s deadpan British humour at its best with a definitely maybe Reynoldsesque twist.
‘Above The Clouds’ Brilliant!
Jane says on her Instagram: All jokes aside, these very limited beautiful bottle charms are actually on sale, and 100% of the proceeds benefit the Open Hearts Foundation.
p.s.
Who wouldn’t love to have skin like Jane Seymour at the age of 71?
If gin is her secret, I must get myself a bigger bottle of Aviation for my handbag/purse!
(sure to work like a charm) 😉
